Preparation Changes Everything with Mentoring for Girls at TeTe’s House

A community space where nieces prepare for life, together.

Preparation changes everything.

TeTe’s House is a community space where nieces prepare for real life together.

TeTe’s House is a nonprofit mentoring home for girls and young women ages 12–25 in Wichita, Kansas. We create a safe, joyful space where nieces can talk honestly about money, life, identity, and the future. Through mentoring, financial literacy, life skills, wellness, and career exposure, we focus on one thing: preparation. When nieces feel prepared, confidence grows, decisions get clearer, and independence feels possible.

Built from lived experience

TeTe’s House was built from real stories—ours and the nieces we love. We’ve seen what happens when girls are left to figure out life alone, and we’ve seen what happens when they are surrounded by aunties, big sisters, and mentors who walk with them.

We started TeTe’s House because we wanted a space that feels like family and functions like preparation: structured, loving, and honest. We don’t show up as saviors—we show up as community. Together, we unpack money habits, life skills, identity, and dreams in a way that feels possible, not perfect. Every circle, workshop, and conversation is shaped by lived experience and deep belief in who our nieces are becoming.

How TeTe’s House works

Nieces connect with us through weekly mentoring circles, focused workshops, and ongoing support from a community of trusted women. Circles feel like sitting in the living room with aunties and big sisters: we laugh, learn, journal, and talk through real-life situations. Workshops dive deeper into topics like money, boundaries, wellness, and career exposure so nieces leave with both language and tools. Each niece’s journey is rooted in preparation—one small, steady step at a time.
