The 5 pillars of preparation:  Mentoring programs for young women

Real life doesn’t come with a handbook. TeTe’s House comes close.

At TeTe’s House, nieces grow through five pillars of preparation that touch every part of real life—money, daily living, boundaries, identity, and the future. Each pillar blends honest conversation, practical tools, and big-sister energy so nieces don’t just get information; they get support, language, and community to walk it out.

PILLAR 1

Money, Mindset & Independence

Money, Mindset & Independence helps nieces learn how to make money decisions with confidence instead of fear or guesswork. We talk about what they believe about money, how they want to live, and the habits that can support that future. The goal is to move from ‘I don’t know’ to ‘I have a plan.’

  • Building a simple budget that actually fits your real life
  • Understanding paychecks, bills, and saving without shame
  • Money boundaries with friends, family, and relationships

Real Life, Elevated

Real Life, Elevated focuses on the everyday skills that make life feel less chaotic and more doable. We practice things like time management, communication, and setting up simple systems at home and school. Nieces leave with small, practical changes that make their days feel smoother and more in their control.

  • Planning your week so you’re not always rushing
  • Speaking up for yourself with teachers, bosses, and family
  • Everyday organization: phones, bags, schedules, and rest

The Standard

The Standard is about how nieces see themselves and what they decide to accept in their lives. We explore values, self-respect, and how to recognize both healthy and unhealthy relationships. This pillar reminds nieces that they are allowed to raise the bar and keep it there.

  • Naming your personal standards in friendships and dating
  • Spotting red flags and green flags in relationships
  • Practicing boundaries without feeling guilty

Discover Your Lane

Discover Your Lane helps nieces explore who they are, what they’re good at, and what possibilities exist for their future. We don’t expect them to have everything figured out. Instead, we create space to try things, ask questions, and see new paths in school, work, and entrepreneurship.

  • Exploring careers you’ve never heard of (and how people got there)
  • Matching your strengths and personality to future paths
  • Asking real questions to women in different careers

Becoming Her

Becoming Her is all about identity, wellness, and the vision nieces hold for themselves. We talk about self-talk, mental and emotional health, and how to care for their bodies and minds in sustainable ways. This pillar centers who nieces are becoming—not just what they’re doing.

  • Rewriting the stories you tell yourself about who you are
  • Simple practices for emotional check-ins and coping
  • Vision-setting: creating a picture of your future you
